Itinerary

Morning: After breakfast, your driver-guide will pick you up at your hotel in Arusha early in the morning with a lunchbox in your hand. Drive through the scenic landscapes of northern Tanzania, heading towards Lake Natron. Drive for about 2 hours before leaving the main road. The ride will take you over bumpy paths, through remote Maasai areas with stunning views of the 'mountain of God' Ol Doinyo Lengai. If you’re lucky, you might even see some zebras, giraffes, or other wildlife. Enjoy the changing scenery along the way. The drive takes around 4-5 hours in total, with a stop for lunch. Afternoon: Scenic Walk and Flamingo Observation After a refreshing lunch, arrive at the entrance gate of the Lake Natron area, where a local Maasai guide will escort you to your accommodation. Visiting this whole area without a local guide is not allowed, so any excursion you do will be in his presence. Check-in and have time to freshen up. Set off on a scenic walk along the shores of Lake Natron, accompanied by your local guide. The ground is quite slippery and muddy, so be prepared to slowly slide over it to avoid falling. It’s very shallow for quite some time, so it’s up to you to see how far you want to go to get close to the flamingos. This stroll allows you to soak in the breathtaking landscapes while keeping an eye out for the captivating lesser flamingos that flock here to breed. Observe these graceful birds as they wade through the shallow waters, feeding on algae and brine shrimp, creating a vibrant tapestry of color across the lake. Your guide will share fascinating insights into the local ecosystem, enhancing your understanding of this remarkable location. Evening: Sunset at Lake Natron As the sun begins to dip below the horizon, find the perfect spot to witness a mesmerizing sunset over the lake. We’ll stay until sunset, as this is the time when the flamingos are most active, looking for food. The dramatic colors reflecting on the water create an unforgettable view, perfect for photography enthusiasts. After capturing the moment, enjoy a delicious dinner at your lodge, featuring local flavors and ingredients. Accommodation: Camp or Lodge near Lake Natron Retreat to your chosen accommodation for a restful night, rejuvenating for the adventures that await you on the following day.

Morning: Hike to Engarasero Waterfall Rise early, enjoy a hearty breakfast, and prepare for an invigorating hike to the Engarasero Waterfall. Located a short distance from Lake Natron, this spectacular waterfall cascades down the rocks into serene pools below, creating a picturesque oasis. The hike takes about 1 to 2 hours and involves crossing rivers, so get ready to get wet. You'll also have opportunities to spot diverse wildlife and take stunning photos of the landscape. Mid-Morning: Relaxation After your hike, spend some time relaxing at the waterfall’s base. Enjoy the serene environment and take a refreshing dip in the cool waters. This time is perfect for reflecting on your experiences and soaking in the natural beauty. Late Morning: Lunch and Departure Return to your lodge to collect your luggage. A packed lunch will be provided for you to enjoy before departure. Ensure you have your meal and belongings ready for the journey back to Arusha. The return trip takes approximately 4 hours, so plan to leave early enough to comfortably arrive in Arusha before dark.
