This 12 Days Budget Kilimanjaro Safari Holiday tour package combines a 6 days Kilimanjaro climb and 4 days Tanzania camping safari. For Kilimanjaro climbs, you will have the option to choose between Machame Route, or Marangu Route. Also for safari you can choose between camping or lodge safari  for accommodations.

12 Days Budget Kilimanjaro Safari Holiday Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

On this day you will arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport where you will be met by our guide who will drive you to your hotel in Moshi.

Dinner and overnight accommodation at your hotel in Moshi.

Day 2: Machame Gate to Machame Camp

Elevation: 5,380 ft to 9,350 ft
Distance: 11 km
Hiking Time: 5-7 hours
Habitat: Rain Forest

The Drive from Moshi to the Mount Kilimanjaro National Park gate takes about 50 Minutes. The Journey Passes through the village of Machame which is located on the lower slopes of the mountain. Once we reach the park gate, climbers are requested to make their final preparations for the climb. Porters will be seen arranging their packs containing the food, water, gas cookers, and other equipment.

Make sure you have all your day pack items with you as the porters travel very quickly. The guides will be pleased to assist with any additional information. We now leave the park gate and walk through the rainforest on a winding trail to the first uniport Hut which is located at an altitude of (3048 m) we continue a short distance until we reach the Machame Hut. Here we make camp, rest, enjoy our dinner and overnight. We have now reached an altitude of (3100 m)

Day 3: Machame Camp to Shira Carve 

Elevation: 9,350 ft to 12,500 ft
Distance: 5 km
Hiking Time: 4-6 hours
Habitat: Heath

After breakfast we leave the Glades of the Rain Forest and continue on an ascending path, crossing the little valley walking along a steep rocky ridge, covered with Heather until the ridge ends. The route now turns west onto a river gorge at (3658 m) time for a rest, dinner and overnight at the Shira Hut camp site.

Day 4: Shira  Carve to Lava Tower to Barranco

Elevation: 12,500 ft to 15,190 ft
Distance: 7 km

Habitat: Alpine Desert

From the Shira Plateau, we continue to the East passing the junction towards the peak of Kibo. As we continue our direction changes to South East towards the Lava Tower, called ‘The Sharks Tooth) shortly after the tower we come to the second junction which brings us up to the arrow glacier. We have now reached an altitude of (4876 m). we now continue down to the Barranco Hut at an altitude of (3950 m) here we rest, enjoy dinner and camp overnight.

Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp to Barafu Hut

Elevation: 13,044 ft to 13,106 ft
Distance: 5 km

After breakfast, we leave Barranco and continue on a steep ridge passing the Barranco wall passing through the Karanga Valley and the junction which connects with the Mweka Trail. We continue to the Barafu Hut which is located at an altitude of (4600 m) where we make camp. Rest enjoy dinner and overnight. The two peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo are to be seen from this position.

Day 6: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

Elevation: 15,331 ft to 19,341 ft
Distance: 5 km
Hiking Time: 7-8 hours

Elevation: 19,341 ft to 10,065 ft
Distance: 12 km
Hiking Time: 4-6 hours
Habitat: Rain Forest

An early start for the ascent to the rim of the Kibo Crater between the Rebmann and Ratzel Glaciers, (4 hours); the last section before the rim can sometimes be snow-covered and an ice ax or ski stick is useful for balance. From here a further hour leads to Uhuru Peak, from where there are often fine views of Meru to the west and the jagged peak of Mawenzi to the east. Descend to the Barafu Hut for a rest and lunch before continuing on down to camp at Mweka Hut in the giant heather zone on the forest edge. Those with energy on the summit may wish to descend to the Reutsh Crater and visit the dramatic ice pinnacles of the Eastern Icefields.

Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate 

Elevation: 10,065 ft to 5,380 ft
Distance: 10 km
Hiking Time: 3-4 hours
Habitat: Rain Forest

After breakfast, we continue the descent to Mweka Gate and collect the summit certificates. From the gate, we continue another hour to Mweka Village. A vehicle will meet us at Mweka Village to drive us to the hotel in Arusha.

Day 8: Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park.

After breakfast, we head to Lake Manyara. Lake Manyara national park offers large attractive habitats, acacia woodlands, water forests, baobab strewn cliffs, algae streaked hot springs, swamps and the lake. Thanks to this small Park is able to support a large number of animal species and incredible bird life. Lake Manyara has the largest concentration of baboons anywhere in the world and the lions here are also renowned for their tree climbing. Overnight at Ngorongoro Kudu Lodge and Campsite.

Day 9: Lake Manyara – Serengeti National Park.

After breakfast, depart to Serengeti National Park, via Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Leaving the highlands behind, we descend into the Serengeti National Park with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. Then heard to the central park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife animals well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species. Arrive afternoon for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti national park. Overnight at Serengeti Seronera campsite.

Day 10: Serengeti National Park.

After breakfast at the campsite go for a full day game drive. depending on the season following the wildebeest’s migration. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Seronera campsite.

Day 11: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Crater.

Early morning game drive then depart to Ngorongoro Conservation area. We will stop at Olduvai Gorge, boasting with a history dating back to the dawn of time. This is the place where, that the anthropologists Dr. Lois and Mary Leakey discovered the skulls of ‘Nutcracker Man’ and ‘Handy Man’, both very significant links in the chain of human evolution Late afternoon transfer to Ngorongoro Simba Campsite where you will have dinner and overnight.

Day 12: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha

Early descend into Ngorongoro Crater for the game drive. After morning breakfast, You will descend over 600 meters into the crater to view wildlife. Supported by a year-round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area supports the vast variety of animals because of his great habitat which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, lion, hippo and giant African elephants.

We will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the south western corner, which is the main features of the crater. A large number of beautiful flamingos, hippos and other water birds can usually be seen here. Late afternoon transfer to Arusha town for Overnight or airport drop off.
